The Department of Education, Tirot Sing Memorial College, has been functioning since the inception of the college in the year 1981 with pre-university Two-year course. It was upgraded to the Degree level in the year 1992 and offered B.A. Education Pass Course after it was granted permission and received affiliation from the North Eastern Hill University. In 1995 the department was again granted permission from NEHU to introduce Education as an honours subject. It may be mentioned that from the beginning, the department is very fortunate to have dedicated teachers whose relentless effort, sacrifice and hard work have made this department as one of the most progressive departments in Tirot Sing Memorial College. The Department at present consists of 4 (four) faculty members, 3 full time faculty members against sanctioned post and 1 college post. The department is proud that two of the faculty members, Smt Biangtiful Marbaniang and Shri Phonesstar Nongrang are products of Tirot Sing Memorial College itself. It may be mentioned that the present Principal, Dr P. R. Lyngdoh was also the faculty member of the Education department then. Apart from regular teaching and evaluation the Department engaged in several activities of the College for the progress and welfare of the students. The Department has produced many students who have pursued their studies in the Master degree and many other courses. Students of the department are also well placed in different walks of life. Apart from teaching all faculty members are associated with other academic activities for the upliftment of the department.
