About

The Department of Khasi at Tirot Sing Memorial College has its beginning in 1981, the year that the college was established. It was started under the Pre-Unversity System. Afterward, the Bachelor of Art Pass Course started in 1992 after the college was granted permission and received affliation from the North Eastern hill University. Subsequently the Honours Course was added in 1995. The Department offers a three B.A Honours Course following the North Eastern Hill University (NEHU) syllabus. The Department had evolving from a small beginning but now it stand the biggest department in term of enrolment and students population in the institution. From time to time through the hardwork of the esteemed teachers the department has produced many students with good result and some of them have entered the University for further studies in the Post Graduate Degree, M.Phil and Ph.D. It is indeed a pleasure to mention here that one of the passed student of Khasi Department, Ms Kerdalin Nongsiej, is teaching in Khasi Department in the College. At present it has three fulltime faculty members which runs the smooth functioning of the department through the bachelor degree in Khasi. The Department of Khasi not only aim to educate and impart knowledge to the students, but also take the responsibility of encouraging them to maintain a good moral character in different aspects of social life.
