
Policies of the Library
CIRCULATION POLICY:
- In order to borrow the library books, the students, faculty and staff of the Tirot Sing Memorial College produce their valid college ID.
- The borrower must be responsible for the books which they had been issued from the library.
- The borrower must keep track on the due date of the book and renew it in time in order to avoid overdue charges.
- The book must be return to the Circulation desk.

RENEWAL
The student, faculty and staffs whose library material are not subjected to fines or overdue charges can renew the same in the Circulation Section of the Library. Once the material had been renewed the due date will be extended. The Library materials can only be renewed ‘twice’.
FINE POLICY
Overdue library documents are subjected to overdue charges or fines. This policy applies to all user’s category who borrowed books from the library. The amount of fine is ₹2 per day for one book/document.
Students who is subjected to fine will be given a receipt and they can pay the fine only after the receipt have been verified (with signature) by the HOD or Principal of the college.
Appeals should be directed to the Librarian.
PHOTOCOPYING POLICY
The library provides a photocopy service which will enable students to scan/print the document and notes required for their academic purposes.
- Scanning Cost: ₹1 one sided ₹2 double sided.
- Printing: ₹5 per page.
LIBRARY INTERNSHIP POLICY
The Tirot Sing Memorial College Library internship policy and intern eligibility are as follows:
- Statement: To guide the intern in understanding the library management systems and the administrative works involved.
- Purpose: To provide the intern with a hands-on environment, to better understand the subject and develop the required skills in the Library and Information Science field.
- Eligibility: The intern must have a Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science or an equivalent qualification.
- Objectives:
- To help the intern gain a better understanding by linking the academic theoretical part of Library and Information Science to the practical work involved.
- To provide the intern with knowledge of job processes and duties in the library.
- To enable the intern to gain leadership skills and develop a good working relationship within a team.
- To enable the intern to handle the various working section of the library, thereby contributing to their future career goal as library professionals.
- Working hours: The working hours for an intern in from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. Duties for the interns will be given at various library sections (viz., Circulation, acquisition, etc.) on a rotation basis.
LIBRARY AWARD POLICY:
Statement: In order to enhance and motivate the students to make efficient use of the service and information sources available in the library, students will be awarded with “Best Library User Award”.
Rules and regulation to be considered in identifying the winners for the said award :
- Two students will be selected from the UG (i.e., both arts and commerce stream).
- The award will be based on the statistical data of Library usage (i.e., The amount of time spent in using the library resources, check in and check out of the library document, and so on.)
- Spending time in the computer section for online browsing in general will not be considered as the time spent in using or accessing the library resources.
- The decision of the Library Committee regarding the award is considered as final decision.
